Rockingham Recreational Rail Trail (Portsmouth Branch)

Rockingham Trailhead to Elling

June, 2023 by lawbarrick

Beautiful day for this 7.2 mile ride the from trailhead to Elling, where we turned around. Great trail surface with only one area where a water puddle on the trail could not be avoided. We encountered a few people walking dogs, but only one other biker. We rode mid morning. Great trail… at least these 7.2 miles!

This trail is second to none! Rode from Lanesboro to Adams-- flat, clean great scenery. Many turtles, water birds, and spotted a deer. Considering a return in the fall as I am sure the color is amazing.

Great Ride

Rode the trail from trail head off Ash Swamp Rd in Newmarket to Route 4 In Lee. Hard packed surface great for mountain and hybrid bikes. We have tadpole trikes and still found the surface good. Only a few spots where trail turns to 2 single tracks with grass in the middle

Mine Falls Park

Not for Road Bikes but Great for Hybrid or Mountain Biking

June, 2023 by tbrennan211

A very nice park leading from the center of Nashua to the YMCA. Really a nice asset for the community. As very little of the trail is paved, I suspect it would be difficult for road bikes but for anyone with a Hybrid or Mountain Bike, this is a nice get away. It weaves through both woods and along the waterway, providing a nice feeling of getting into nature. Definitely worth checking out for a ride someday.

Great trail in MA!

Road the trail last week end-to-end as an out and back from the great southern trailhead parking area on Crane Avenue (bathroom). Trail is in excellent condition and a great ride.

Cheshire Rail Trail (Cheshire Branch Rail Trail)

Beautiful section in terms of scenery and access to lakes and ponds. The surface can be challenging. Today, with fairly dry conditions, it could be negotiated with hybrid bikes.

Nashua River Rail Trail

Great Trail, Signage is Strange

May, 2023 by jarekiotalk

As for rail trails go, this one the cream of the crop. It is very flat and paved. People with narrow tire road bikes will do just fine. I believe it is a mile or so longer then what they say it is.

An odd thing about this trail. When you pull into the parking area on the Nashua end, there is no clear signage that it is the Nashua River Trail. Heading out of the parking lot, on the trail, I noticed the back of the signs marking it as the Nashua Rail Trail . It seems the signage should be on the other side of the trail with the writing of the sign being in front of you.

Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail

early spring bike ride

April, 2023 by cantabty

The trail is very well marked with easy parking. Lucky I had my fat bike today for todays ride. Trail conditions changed from dry, wet, icy packed to snow plowing. It was fun to experience all seasons in one day with a bike to handle deep mud. It’s early spring and expected.

Ebiking the trail.

My first time on the trail was a great experience. The path is hard packed gravel and wide enough for various types of traffic. Foot and bike traffic. The scenery was nice, but it is early spring. I plan to return in June. The path will be very different with the tree and plants in full bloom.

Mass Central Rail Trail

Weston part not the best for rollerblading

February, 2023 by 7q2vdb7mbx

The pavement is decent, but there’s no marked center line. Biggest complaint is that the trail primarily goes downhill as you go east, and primarily uphill as you go west, so you’re going to hate one direction or the other. Decent views. Poor road-to-trail transitions with broken up pavement and sand which is a nightmare for in-line skates. Much prefer the Cochituate rail trail

Ware River Rail-Trail

Great if you like exploring, like I do.

Rode (7/22) from Winchendon to Baldwinville, and then (skipping the part bisected by Rt. 2) from from Rt. 101 in Templeton to Route 122 in Smithville on the Barre/Oakham line. Lots of wet and rutty sections north of Balwinville but still fun (some walking with 1.5" tires). Some sandy section in the southern piece but still fun. It's slow going of course. Didn't pass a single extra person. Good roadside fried food at Lee's in Baldwinville (it's been there for at least 70 years!)
