Monon Trail

Haved loved this trail for 20+ years

May, 2023 by mccurdy.john

I've been riding this trail for many years, and after checking out other trails (in-state and out), I am always feeling grateful that we have this amazing amenity in our state. The previous comment describing the Monon Trail as "boring" is laughable, unless you find riding through vibrant midwest towns with art galleries, breweries, restaurants, lovely countryside etc. nearby boring!

One of the best things the state of Indiana has ever done.

Big 4 Trail (Lebanon to Colfax)

big 4needs repair on Thorntown section

May, 2023 by jtkoehler2

The Thorntown section has bumps on the pavement from Sugar Creek to Serum Plant road. The trail north of Sugar Creek is great. The section south of Serum Plant road is getting repaved and should be open in the fall. I wish Thorntown would repair their part they are responsible for maintaining.

Big 4 Trail (Lebanon to Colfax)

great trail

May, 2023 by jtkoehler2

We rode the trail today May 19,there is a tree down . I called Colfax clerks office and they said they will get to it. From past experience with the office, they are pretty quick on taking care of any problems. I also asked them when cutting the grass to blow the clippings into the grass not on the trail. The Thorntown section from Sugar Creek south, needs some repair. Various places on the trail have nickeled asphalt

Have been on this trail from both ends. Winimac and Royal Center have plenty of services. Half shade spread though out. Good condition over all. You will like it.

Big 4 Trail (Lebanon to Colfax)

Mild and straight

I rode from Colfax to Thorntown today. There are intermittent patches of mustard garlic up and down the trail. I would like to see a clean-up planned for this part of the trail to clear the mustard garlic.

Great American Rail-Trail

Great Allegheny Trail southeast of Pittsburgh?

April, 2023 by eshawger

Surprised to see this amazing trail that has great bed and breakfasts along it is not noted as part of the Great American Rail Trail. It sure would help demonstrate more GART completion if it was.

Midland Trace Trail

Great walk with my dogs

March, 2023 by 1corinthians6

Took my dogs on this trail in the early evening in March 2023 and it was a great walk. Not many folks, and much of it was secluded in forest or with lakes on either side of the trail. I imagine it might be buggy in the summer, given all the water. Started in Westfield and went east. Will do it again.

Nickel Plate Trail

Nickel Plate Trail

This is one of my favorites. Well documented, and long ride without much stopping for cross traffic. Just make sure you have a lot of water on warm weather rides.
Will have to drive down to Peru trailhead and cycle north.

Bicentennial Trail

Bicentennial Trail

January, 2023 by ed4lu

This trail is a classic example of short trails connected to longer and developed trails that allow access from neighboring areas. The trail is smooth with short access points along the way … it is open with most sections without tree cover and can get very hot during the Indiana summer ! This is the type of trail needed in many places in Indiana where small feeders trails bring residents out to longer and developed systems!

Big-4 Rail Trail (Zionsville)

Great local ride!

January, 2023 by benlarson

We took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather on New Years Eve and rode the length of this trail. We rode to the trailhead on Zionsville Road and went North from there. As of 12/31/22, the trail is uninterrupted from Zionsville Rd to Heritage Trail Park. You can go a little further North but after you cross S 800 E it turns into what looks like a driveway and eventually ends. I presume this will continue in the future, you can tell where the rail used to be. The whole thing is paved and some if it new, some old. Most of the intersections either go under or over the crossings which was nice, you hardly had to stop anywhere. The restrooms at the Zionsville City Hall were immaculate, and they had a really cool bike repair station there. Overall, it's a fairly short segment but if you want to get in 10-12 miles round trip it's worth the ride!

Hagan-Burke Trail

A nice bypass to north east Carmel

October, 2022 by dan.peterssccl

This is a great trail to help avoid the congested area of 146 street in Carmel/Westfield, especially if you are going east off the Monon trail. Also a great access toward Carmel High Athletic field using Greyhound pass trail.

106th Street Path

Smooth, wide & fun.

If you like great scenery of this beautiful town, on a fast pace and comfortable ride- this is a ride for you. The roundabouts are easy to maneuver once you get use to them. Many bike friendly motorist in a town use to cyclist. Also darted with some fun short hills!
