I walk the trail almost every day. I enjoy the clean paved portion, but the southernmost portion still has not been paved. It is dusty, dirty and uninviting. Recent inquiries as to when trail will be completed (paved) are not returned. With the recent 25 - 30% increase in property taxes, it seems earlier "lack of budget" excuses don't hold merit. Please pave the final portion of the trail!!
There are many people that run and bike on the trail north of Summit Park. Heading south proves to be a bit tricky. You’ll have to cross a set of railroad tracks and busy road before getting back onto a relatively smooth trail. It end abruptly . Overall, it’s a nice quiet ride.
Nice ride, but I probably won’t ride this trail again though. I started at the Showare Center in Kent. There were a lot of homeless camps scattered throughout the trail in Kent, and I got sideways looks from a few people sitting on chairs posted outside of their encampments. None of them seemed like they were gonna start something, just made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
April 24, 2023. First nice day this spring on the Tenino to Yelm trail (Tenino to Yelm and back).. A number of rough spots in the end near Yelm but most marked with yellow paint if you watch for them. Five or six road crossing about half cross paved side roads and half gravel drive ways. One crosses two lane highway had great sight lines and very little traffic to wait for. I may have seen 6 other cyclist and four walking during the out and back ride. And one other recumbent trike near the Tenino depot park.
Surprised to see this amazing trail that has great bed and breakfasts along it is not noted as part of the Great American Rail Trail. It sure would help demonstrate more GART completion if it was.
We rode from Yelm to the Yelm hwy. overpass. Nice condition all the way.
Very disappointing, it is such a nice trail but you can’t take your dog to walk there
I have ridden this trail three times now start to finish and it is hands down my favorite around. People complain because it's not paved the whole way but that is my favorite part. It's not all cookie cutter and neat, it is an adventure! 56 miles of the most beautiful scenery you have ever seen. I am going to ride it start to finish for the fourth time next weekend. Can't wait! If God rode, this would be His trail. 5 stars!
We found this hike and were so happy to complete it. Beautiful views.
