Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

Nice long flat ride

May, 2023 by pitsplace

We have rode this a couple times in the last couple months. We parked at north end point of main trail where future trail will cross HWY 100 north of Keystone. It’s not really a parking area but there is room for about 6 cars and I saw other people parking there so we did too. As other people have said it is within 20-30 yards at times of HWY100 but it ducks in and out of the woods and there is plenty of trail that isn’t close to the highway. We rode out 22 miles to south of the State Forest north of Palatka and then headed back. There is a little

Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

fantastic trail

We did the ride from Palatka all way through Keystone Hts this week and it was amazing. Some false flats mixed in with some nice downhills make for great road biking route. We too pushed past the endpoint in Keystone Hts into newly paved trail. Could only go about 2.5 miles then it disconnects. But looks like other paved all the way into Hampton. Does anyone know the plans for connecting this to Lake Butler or not? Total ride end to end was 56.5miles.

Palatka-to-St. Augustine State Trail

Good experience!

March, 2023 by gail laduke

Drove from Ocala to Palatka so we could start there and cross the bridge over the river. Unfortunately the bridge was closed off on Palatka side. We drove over the bridge drove over the bridge and parked at the Post Office which is right on the trail. Trail was in good shape except for edges in the woods where tree roots are starting. Rode 29 miles out and back. Enjoyed it! It was worth the drive. Closer to St. Augustine it was in sun along road that's why we turned around. Good beer at the brewery in Palatka for the end of the ride! A good day.

Poor Experience!

Majority of the trail is next to the main road (207) so little shade and quite noisy. Along the trail there is nothing to see but run down houses and cars. We were even heckled by two men who appeared to be homeless and under the influence. Didn’t feel particularly safe or fun. Wouldn’t recommend.

East Central Regional Rail Trail

Great trail.

We started at a parking area on Cow Creek Rd and went south and then west to Maytown. I must point out that the Shack View from bike path is extremely underwhelming, but the trail is quiet and rural in this section. The bike trail through this are is in perfect condition at this time. We rode past a private airport with a few planes. There was a trailside stand for refreshments and produce near the Maytown junction. We got in about 25 miles in our round trip and want to return to finish the other legs of the trail. Highly recommended.

Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail

Great Trail!

It has been a number of months since we rode this trail. Today we found that at the "end" in Keystone Heights, mile 32ish, we were prepared to make our turn to return to Florahome. As we approached I saw that the construction to complete the trail to Lake Butler is going along nicely. Went across onto the "new" trail surface for just about 1.5 miles into the new pavement. Can't wait for the official opening.
Does anyone know how far this will extend the trail west from Keystone Heights?

long long trail

Started in Titusville and rode 20 miles yesterday. Found some delicious coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants in downtown Titusville. Rode 30 miles today. Trail flat and sunny if starting in Titusville - wear sunscreen. Will be back in the future.

WARNING:Northern Bridge has been closed due to damage

February, 2023 by oanmlldy

WARNING:Northern Bridge is closed due to damage with no signage at beginning of the trail. This means the only way to traverse the trail is to walk along the US HWY 17, a very high volume road leading to a potentially dangerous situation. Asphalt needs repairs on trail and road noise level is high.

Rode 6 miles out and back. Very nice clean and not busy (we biked on a Monday) . Worth to drive to Space View Park to start.

Halifax River Trail

Not 6 miles

I was looking for a 12 mile run so I thought this would be great - just run it back and forth First I drove the trail and it was 4.7 miles from start to finish as shown on trail map. Then I ran it w GPS on watch and back and forth it was 9.5. So just a heads up this 6 mile trail is 4.7 miles. Other than that it was fine though there is currently a lot of sidewalk damage, but very flat, and yeah the Ormond Beach park was nice, had restrooms, and clean.

Very nice and quiet trail

As we are from Canada and brought our bikes with us, we tried this trail from 994 Enterprise Osteen Rd parking area and biked to the highway 95. Our ride was 45 miles round trip and the road was excellent condition. The scenery (mostly trees) was nice for mid January 77 degrees sunny weather. No picnic area found, few bench to take a break and no restroom found. Except at the start are. Overall it’s a great ride for exercise!
