We parked at the Dunes climb and traveled north to the gravel path a bit before Port Oneida. Decided on the pedal assist with many up & downs against strong winds. Nicely paved path, a few miles on it We did almost 11 miles each way, A great ride, Frankie the roads, , be sure to wear the helmet.
Loved the boardwalk and winding trail through lush vegetation and flowering plants! Birds calling and healthy trees. Seeing the waterway and streams added to the beauty.
Stayed at Anchor Inn which was close to a trailhead and reasonably priced. Closer to Travers City we were told the trail was along the road so we went to the next closest trailhead. A smooth paved trail. Orchards were a nice break in the tree lines.
Riverside Park to Belding a little bumpy with debri on trail. Belding to Rockford very bumpy with cracks and root lifts and many dogs and walkers that didn’t respect biker space or passing. Rockford to Sand Lake smooth and few dogs or people so was a great ride!! North of Sand Lake same, could really cruise! Enjoyed distance!
My wife kiddo and I were looking for a new trail to ride. We ride in traverse city but wanted something different. Today we parked at the Beulah Beach and this trail was just around the corner. We rode to Frankfort ate lunch and rode back. It was super easy for my 8 year old daughter, highly recommend !
Very nice addition to TC, highly recommend to get out of the (relative) hustle and bustle of downtown traverse.
Well-maintained and beautiful trail! We veered off to ride Beech St as we neared Harbor Springs, and it was a gorgeous detour through a nature preserve and along the water in places. Highly recommend.
Beautifully paved now the 8 miles from Sand Lake to Howard City. A few scuff marks in the middle from snowmobiles this past winter, but very smooth. Some very gradual ups and downs. Lovely ride today.
Took the trail west about six miles into Boyne City. Very nice trail conditions with plenty of woods, scenic vistas and finally water at the BC terminal point. Enjoyed the warm fall afternoon!
This is a nice trail. The trail has been completed so that it does go all the way around Boardman Lake. It is about 4 miles, mostly shaded, and mostly paved. There are sections of boardwalk and a small section of hard packed dirt/gravel.
Rode the entire length of this trail from Gaylord to Cheboygan, then to Mackinaw City the next morning. Excellent crushed gravel surface, very easy to ride on with a mountain bike. The scenery is beautiful along the entire route and there are numerous great stops along the way. Gentle downhill all the way to Wolverine, then it was basically flat into Cheboygan and along Lake Huron to Mackinaw. We also rode the opposite way a couple days later, and the uphill climb back to Gaylord was very doable, even at the latter stages of a 50 mile ride. I highly recommend this ride.
