Pine Creek Rail Trail

Autumn Leaves PA Grand Canyon

We rode this trail on October 9-10/2022 to see the colorful leaves. Nice trail with a beautiful setting along the Pine Creek. Parking was limited at the Blackwell trail head.

Lykens Valley Rail Trail

Nothing too remarkable

We rode the western end of this trail on Oct. 12th, 2022. We parked in the riverfront park in Millersburg then rode a few blocks on the local streets (Pearl St. , Wiconisco St, and Goodling Rd.) to access the rail trail that goes east out of town. There are no signs to let you know you are on the rail trail until after a few hundred feet onto the trail. At first appearance you appear to be on a private dirt/gravel road. Once you pass a gate there are signs for the trail. The trail surface is crushed stone, and in fairly good shape, though a little narrow where the foliage/grass is encroaching. The trail is completely in the woods so is well-shaded. The Wiconisco creek is off to the north side but not always visible from the trail. All in all, there is no outstanding scenery in this short two mile section. Although the weather was perfect, it was a weekday and we only passed two other people during our short round-trip ride.

Buffalo Valley Rail Trail

Nice trail with easy access!

My family enjoyed a 3 mile walk from a starting point by Giant in Lewisburg. It was a busy day on the trail, so we had to keep looking behind us for bikers and joggers. I was disappointed to see quite a bit of litter along the trail, especially 7-Eleven cups. Not sure why people think it's ok to throw it along the way.

Buffalo Valley Rail Trail

Nice ride through that part of PA

My wife and I parked after turning on13th street to the spaces. This was MM 9 and we headed out towards the farm land. The grade was very mild both ways and the trail was is very good condition. There are a lot of crossings but it is a peaceful ride past well kept farms. I ride a MTN bike and there were ways riding slightly off trail to make the ride more challenging. We made it to MM 3.5 and turned around. We will probably come back to ride the entire trail.

Daughter and I completed the trail. Started in Lewisburg went all the way to the other end. Stopped for some light lunch at the Rusty Rail. The food was great. Nice ride back! So many Beautiful Amish barns and farms to take in.

Railroad Grade Trail (Ives Run )

Shady and railbed are its primary attributes

My wife and I are railfans, and we're always looking for railroadiana on a rail-trail. This one .... not so much. We found a code pole tilted over into the stream, an original 1926 railroad culvert, and the bridge over Hills Creek. Speaking of which, the trail per se ends at the west where an access road takes off to the south. West of there it's overgrown, although there's a herd path to the bridge over Hills Creek. It's too overgrown to make way past the bridge, with prickers and stickers.

As others note, the trail is rocky and bumpy (for wheeled users) and open to motorized vehicles. Some of them were polite and drove past us hikers slowly, but the four-wheelers didn't slow down and choked us with their dust, reinforcing the incompatibility between motorized and non-motorized users of trails.

That said, it is shady and runs alongside Crooked Creek for much of the way.

Susquehanna Warrior Trail

this trail needs maintained.

September, 2021 by lowtoyonair

I rode the trail today near the nuclear power plant and it was poorly maintained. The gravel was very loose, a lot of fallen tree debris and quite muddy. I traveled on the trail north about 2.5 miles and gave up. I traveled back along US11 and then rode around the trails at the river flatlands which were a bit better. I guess I am spoiled with my local trails (York Heritage and NW Lancaster Co Rail Trail)

Buffalo Valley Rail Trail

Nice Ride, Mostly Crushed Aggregate

Lewisburg end start at the Miller Center/YMCA. First mile in Lewisburg is confusing and crossing Highway 15 is not at a crosswalk and the trail is not well marked. Mifflinburg end is just beyond the Rusty Rail restaurant. Lots of parking in that area. Lewisburg end first 2 miles are asphalt, many road crossings. Mifflinburg end is 1.5 miles asphalt. Middle is through cornfields and farm fields with several farm access road crossings. Could be a 5 star except for Lewisburg end and a couple of Highway crossings should be more visibly marked - cars don’t stop for bikes.

Lycoming Creek Bikeway

Nice trail. Relatively flat, although we did have a hard time finding the trailhead. Parked behind stadium in Williamsport. Trail goes through both urban and rural areas. Good for all, levels of riders.

Pine Creek Rail Trail

Pine Creek Trail paradise

July, 2021 by dldjmitchell

The Pine Creek Trail is located in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. We rode the 62 mile trek in one day and what a wonderful ride it was. The trail is exceptionally well maintained and God has landscaped this trail with beautiful mountains on each side and (this summer) a flowing ‘creek’ along side. The 62 miles flowed so smoothly that we reached the end before we knew it.
