This trail is well maintained and an enjoyable ride, a bit cool even when the temps are in the 70's, a lot of shade. Volunteers were out trimming hanging limbs and clearing debris from the trail. They also gave us instructions to navigate the streets in Punxsutawney, could have been a real problem without these directions. Made the 15 mile trip out and on our way back stopped at Luigi's Pizza for awesome pizza. Jenn, the owner/manager was very friendly and made our time at lunch enjoyable. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Eagles nest as it was blown down in a recent wind storm. Definitely a trail to ride again.
Grass is growing through the gravel between Emporium and Little Red Barn Farm. Emporium Chamber says trail will be sprayed later in June. Trail could use additional gravel. Lots of wildlife along the trail.
This trail is easy to find from either the Simmemahoning Park Office or the Wildlife Viewing Area which is a mile north of the park office. There are parking lots and rest rooms in both areas. The park office is manned during the day. The trail is flat and wide. Great for families. The southern part of the trail passes 40 Maples day use area. There are restrooms at 40 Maples. South of 40 Maples the trail exits onto and shares the park road that goes to the lake. Can be ridden using mountain bikes or gravel bikes.
I rode this trail for the first time today. I was lucky enough to meet both Paul and Terry. These two gentlemen are both hard working and very kind men. Like most people I meet on the trails. I hope you both get the mechanical help you need, and God bless the both of you. The trail was a bit rougher than I am used to, but beautiful nonetheless. Short but sweet is the way I would explain it. However this is not crushed stone and a bit bumper than what I am used to. I will be back and looking forward to it.
Very nice trail enjoyed the ride. The trail through Punxsutawney could be marked better.
We were traveling west across Pennsylvania to northern Ohio. “Plan A” was to ride the Ohio to Erie trail starting in Akron but there was wild weather forecast this afternoon in Akron area. So I searched this app for other good trail options close to route 80 where the weather would be calm. The Redbank trail lives up to it’s 5 star reviews. We began at the narrow parking lot in historic Brookville. We immediately loved the wide gravel surface with benches donated by local HS classes. The trail winds along and across the river which makes for gorgeous rustic scenery. Look for sculptures, shelters, and mile markers. Our 12.5 miles south on the trail was an excellent “plan B”. We will be back to ride the rest of the trail.
Have ridden this trail several times from spring to fall.Section from Marienville for a good many miles is wooded and from Leeper to Marianne is more open fields and farms. The trail overall is beautiful and sparsely used.
I loves the views and trail! Wish I could upload my pics I took.
Parked in Lucinda, mile marker 7 on the trail, and biked to Marianne (mile .50) and back then up to the Forest County Line, mile marker 20.5 and back. Covered the whole trail, end to end. Always a nice ride. Goldenrod was in full bloom. Trail ends at the Clarion/Forest County line but continues another 6.5 miles in Forest County as the Marienville 4-seasons trail.
Easy Ride on crushed stone. Trail is very flat from Clearfield to Curwensville. However, begins to climb uphill from Curwensville to Grampian. Several bridges crossing the Allegheny River and a few creeks. Most of this trail is through the woods and is shaded.
This trail is fabulous! We only walked a short distance from the Westline trailhead/parking but enjoyed the time. The trail is maintained very well and has plenty of benches for breaks. We don't do many long hikes anymore due to age and mobility issues for us and our 14 year old dog, so we look for nice level places like this. This trail follows Kinzua Creek and eventually they hope to connect to Kinzua Bridge State Park. It is easy to find just off Hwy 219 and taking the turn to Westline. Westline Inn is just before one parking area with pavilion, grill and picnic tables. Plenty of parking. There were two other trail crossings/parking areas before this one. Lots of signage makes it easy to find. PA has some of the best rail trails we've ever been to. If you are in the area, make sure to try them all!
