Not the Slate Belt Trolley

June, 2023 by metrotrailsblog

The rail bed can be taken for over 3 miles since the day it opened as it's an extension of the segment in Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center, and it was the Nazareth Branch of the Lehigh and New England Railroad, not a trolley line. There are many connections via Jacobsburg as well as a connection to Ballas Park making it more worthwhile than comments would suggest.

pleasant ride

June, 2023 by mmikos99

We parked at lake Lenape lot. It was unpaved and consisted of packed gravel. Took the trail as far as callow hill. It was asphalt and in reasonable condition. Path is mostly flat with lots of opportunities to observe birds, critters and turtles. It mostly follows the creek. We ran into a few people but mostly had the trail to ourselves. Lots of wild flowers and great scents along the way We enjoyed the ride and will do the entire trail next trip

Not a big fan, did the entire trail and although the conditions are fine there just isn’t much to see.

D&L Trail

new Section from Nor-bath Trail to Catasauqua

June, 2023 by dmartindesign

Was excited to check it out. It was a mixture of paved, gravel and dirt with exposed roots so it went from smooth to pretty bumpy. Our group had a mix of mountain and gravel bikes and it was slow going on the rough sections. The drought made it a bit less scenic but nice pass under a trail trestle. Trail ends at Race St. and after a brief stint on roads, continues at the back of Taylor House Brewing. After that, goes on for the smallest bit before going back up to road.

Nice little trail

June, 2023 by sclouser73

We rode this today and the trail was smooth and very enjoyable. Be caught at the busy roads but people are pretty considerate and will stop for cyclists. The cinders weren’t unbearable for my road bike. We highly recommend.

rest stops

The trail is wonderful, very scenic. Wonderful for biking and hiking further north of Jim Thorpe, if possible, more benches along the trail to stop and take a rest would be nice.

On the lower Denmark road there is no designated parking. Residents have put up No parking signs. A bigger sign on the Pequest road side would be nice Nice trail. Basically level

Paulinskill Valley Trail

Beautiful But Needs Maintenance

May, 2023 by jlnightin

Did the 13 mile loop on our e-bikes. Our observations: Absolutely gorgeous trail, wildflowers were in bloom, a small waterfall, pretty bridges to ride over and slate “cliffs” to ride between. Trails need some serious maintenance. 3 places where trees were over trail, needed to lift bikes over in 2 places, shove bikes under in 1. Trails get very narrow on several places, only room for 1 bike to pass. Poison ivy abounds. Bone jarring areas full of rocks. bikes over in 2 places, had to a

Beware bridge out

May, 2023 by mgags

Parked at Green Lane Park, was not aware that there is a bridge out shortly after the park. There is a workaround if you don’t mind driving on a busy road for a bit. The road is a bit hilly.

Beautiful Memorial Day Weekend ride 2023

May, 2023 by juan.capote

This was my first ride on this trail. Not too crowded for a gorgeous Sunday. I parked in Palmer Park in Chester and headed to High Bridge. The pavement for the first few miles had some rough areas but very manageable after that the pavement is very nicely packed. You can get a glimpse of the Lake Solitude from the trail but if you have the time and don’t mind riding on the road I recommend riding to the base of the waterfall. It’s worth it.Overall I enjoyed the ride and look forward to riding it in the fall.

Good Workout

May, 2023 by gln.jackson

Crushed stone most of the way made it a somewhat noisy ride. A gentle upgrade most of the way out then the reverse coming back. When on dirt was quieter and more peaceful. We rode yesterday (a Saturday) so we had lots of fellow riders on the trail. Unfortunately a good number of them fail to follow basic biking courtesy and call out when passing you. Was a lovely day to ride. The trail is well maintained and the rating of a 2 out of 3 seemed appropriate. We would definitely ride there again.

Nice flat trail close to home

May, 2023 by ljference

A previous review mentioned a homeless camp but I didn’t see any. You can walk along the creek on a dirt trail from Illick’s mill parking lot and eventually you have to cross the train tracks to pick up the paved trail. On return trip, if you miss the cross-over, just follow paved path to the end and take sidewalk back to car. It’s mostly shaded, passes thru burnside plantation. I’ll enjoy this in the hot summer because of the shade.
