San Luis Rey River Trail

Super Saturday Ride

Great ride with nice canyon views. Well kept with good underpasses at busy intersections. We will definitely do it again soon.

Salt Creek Trail (CA)

A Challenging Escape to Beauty

January, 2023 by marie11

Paved, lots of elevation changes. Stunning scenery as it goes along the canyon. Be sure to keep going past the soccer fields to Pooch Park - we missed it the 1st time and it is the best part!! This trail is well designed and you go under busy roads.

San Juan Creek Trail

Nice Trail along the river

It was hard to find how to get to the. It’s a nice trail- only sporadically scenic, but makes a great corridor along the concrete river embankment

Dana Point Headlands Trail

Great Hike! Not a bike trail.

Fantastic views! Many steps and the city has elevators “temporarily “ out of order. Lots of up, down, steps. Worth the effort, the views are spectacular!!!

San Clemente Beach Trail

Nasty comments, No ebikes, no signs

January, 2023 by marie11

We are elderly and use peddle assist bikes. We NEVER speed through areas with pedestrian use. Both of us had so many people barking at us about being on the trail, and it be guy intentionally pushed me. When we finally unearthed a sign, it was very small - prohibiting e-bikes and peddle assist. Meanwhile bikers carrying surf boards are allowed. It was a horrible experience.

Jeffrey Open Space Trail

Well done!

This concrete trail is very well maintained and worth your time. Good workout on a bike. My first time on the trail was from Portola to I-5 where I diverted left to Sand Canyon and accidentally discovered the Walnut trail :). Irvine has so many good trails!

Hicks Canyon Trail

Well maintained and safe

Its pretty and plenty of shade. Many residents are walking and riding on this one so I’ve not seen any creepers lurking. Read “toolbear”’s review its quite in depth and still spot on even after 13 years :).

Inland Rail Trail

Part of trail is good for cycling.

The end section in San Marcos is quite good, the part along Mission Ave. in Escondido is OK. But in between the cities are a number of locations where tree roots have severely damaged the asphalt, some in shadow area surprising you when you hit them with your bike. So if coming from Escondido by bike I take Rancheros Dr. down to Woodland Pkwy, take a right and then a left on Mission Ave all the way to Twin Oaks Valley RD and get back on trail there. This is to bypass the poor section of trail.

Dana Point Headlands Trail

Fantastic views make this walk worth the effort of stairs.

San Diego Creek Trail

Very nice pleasant bike ride

I started at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve Interpretive Center. There was lots of parking there and on the street next to it. The trail starts along the preserve and winds through Irvine. You can really tell you are in an upper class area as the trail was not only beautiful but well maintained and totally free of trash and homeless issues. It was well marked and well maintained. This is a trail I will do again in the future. You feel very safe on this trail during the entire route.
