West Creek Recreational Trail

Grass is growing through the gravel between Emporium and Little Red Barn Farm. Emporium Chamber says trail will be sprayed later in June. Trail could use additional gravel. Lots of wildlife along the trail.

Clarion-Little Toby Trail

This is great to ride in multiple seasons. View are beautiful, lots of wildlife and easy riding. 18 mile out and back. Because of the trees, water and sites, it doesn't feel like an out and back. Great 36 mile ride.

Lowlands Trail

Easy to Find from Park Office or Viewing Area

May, 2023 by bcrinehart735

This trail is easy to find from either the Simmemahoning Park Office or the Wildlife Viewing Area which is a mile north of the park office. There are parking lots and rest rooms in both areas. The park office is manned during the day. The trail is flat and wide. Great for families. The southern part of the trail passes 40 Maples day use area. There are restrooms at 40 Maples. South of 40 Maples the trail exits onto and shares the park road that goes to the lake. Can be ridden using mountain bikes or gravel bikes.

Genesee Valley Greenway

Beautiful and very enjoyable trail.

November, 2022 by weeks930

My wife and I rode our bikes in the fall of 2019 from Piffard south towards Mount Morris and found the trail well maintained and easy riding, only exception was lots of acorns on the trail. No big deal. In July 2022 we rode several miles south of Belfast to Black Creek and really enjoyed this stretch. Scenic and very easy riding. Well maintained too. Prettiest trail in Western New York without a doubt. They now have funding to complete the southern terminus of this trail so 2023 will be busy on the extreme south end. Can't wait for it to be done!

Marienville Bike Trail

Beautiful

Have ridden this trail several times from spring to fall.Section from Marienville for a good many miles is wooded and from Leeper to Marianne is more open fields and farms. The trail overall is beautiful and sparsely used.

Kinzua Valley Trail

Another great PA trail!

September, 2022 by machar

This trail is fabulous! We only walked a short distance from the Westline trailhead/parking but enjoyed the time. The trail is maintained very well and has plenty of benches for breaks. We don't do many long hikes anymore due to age and mobility issues for us and our 14 year old dog, so we look for nice level places like this. This trail follows Kinzua Creek and eventually they hope to connect to Kinzua Bridge State Park. It is easy to find just off Hwy 219 and taking the turn to Westline. Westline Inn is just before one parking area with pavilion, grill and picnic tables. Plenty of parking. There were two other trail crossings/parking areas before this one. Lots of signage makes it easy to find. PA has some of the best rail trails we've ever been to. If you are in the area, make sure to try them all!

Genesee Valley Greenway

You need a shock on this trail

The GVG is advertised as a Hybrid bike trail to ride comfortably. Don't believe it. This is a Mountain Bike trail. Lots of long stretches of bumpy dirt and grass legs.

Clarion-Little Toby Trail

Great trail for a run

September, 2022 by wlod487

This is an excellent trail for a run. Did an 8 mile run today and it was fairly flat, and very well-maintained. Scenery was excellent and traffic was light. We even got to see a train go by.

Pat McGee Trail

Solid Rail-Trail, variety of views, well maintained

August, 2022 by juleshoepting

Awesome, well-maintained multi-use trail! Buggy in woody areas, as can be expected, fine in the sun. Walked the whole thing out and back (24.2 miles) in a day. Variety of views: classic rail-trail, middle of valleys / mountains, in the midst of marshes, along lakes and ponds, in various woods, and across a continental divide. Features 6 railroad-turned-pedestrian bridges, and 5 parking areas. There are a few gazebos in Little Valley, but beyond that, no benches / rest areas. No bathrooms along the trail. There is a lean-to about half a mile south of the most northern terminus. Trail shares over a mile with the Finger Lakes Trail and North Country Trail: these can be taken into Allegany State Park if desired. Note: interpretative signage runs north to south.

Greater Jamestown Riverwalk

It's about 1.39 miles paved. At both ends, it terminates into streets without marked bike lands.

Top notch trail Mt Jewett to Kinzua Bridge

June, 2022 by bikin-mike

WOW…..non-paved trails don’t get any better than this one folks!!! Rode from Mt J to Kinzua after a heavy downpour and only had 1 puddle right at the end in the state park. Wonderful crushed gravel surface…smooth…no bumps…no potholes…no soft spots…grass edges nicely mowed…trees trimmed back…shaded the whole way…milemarkers every .5 miles…interpretive signs with area history…and to top it off it goes directly to a bridge that was at one time called the eighth wonder of the world…SWEET!!! Major kudos to the folks who built and maintained this section. I see they have a crawler tractor, a trail groomer and even a huge vacuum. Keep up the great work. Thank you…bikin-mike June 2022

P.s. Looking forward to returning someday and riding the whole 70 miles when it’s done.

P.s.s. I was expecting some eating places in Mt Jewett. Only saw 1 cafe that closed at 2.

Richard E. McDowell Trail

WOW! What a hidden treasure

November, 2021 by wwwknapp

I biked this trail on 8/14/2021 on a gorgeous 78° day. Despite the short length of this trail, it traverses over eight bridges in a span of 1.3 miles. The trail is completely paved in asphalt and is level except for a very short uphill ascent near its south end before leveling off and terminating at Clarks Lane. If I lived in the area, this trail would be one of my favorite spots to walk on a regular bases. Though all of the users that I encountered on the trail today were walkers or joggers, the trail is plenty wide enough for cyclists. Even though the trail is short, I would definitely recommend making the trip to experience this well-manicured and beautiful Trail!
